A little offline inspiration.
Let’s all be honest, we all refer to recipes either online, in magazines, or in books for some much-needed inspiration. I do this frequently. Probably more than most given my love for food and cooking. If I see a recipe I like, chances are I’ll take note of it and make it at some point later on. It’s easy to fall into a rut with cooking. I do too. Inspiration helps to get you out of the rut and try something new. Something you wouldn’t have thought about making before. Thes raspberry bliss balls is one of those recipes.
Raise your hand if you have a bookshelf full of recipe books. I do! They look nice on the shelf. However, now in the age of information at your fingertips I rarely pull open a recipe book for inspiration. I should do this more often.
Why have so many recipe books? I’m a little addicted to buying these – especially at school fairs where I can trawl through the preloved books there. It’s amazing the bargains you can pick up for a dollar or two.
I’m also addicted to those free magazines you can pick up from either Woolworths or Coles. They have loads of recipes in them. Sitting down with a cup of tea and flicking through a magazine – so old school these days. Sometimes the recipes included are great, other times not so great. It was in a Coles magazine that I saw this recipe for Raspberry Bliss Balls. They had a back to school feature so lots of healthy treats and lunch ideas. This particular recipe looked intriguing. Especially since it contained two ingredients I never thought of including in a bliss ball – frozen raspberries and coconut oil. Like other bliss ball recipes, everything goes into a mini food processor to mulch together. Then you roll into balls and chill. Simple yet so delicious.

- Try these with other frozen berries such as mixed berries, blueberries or even strawberries.
This recipe looks great, and I’m planning to get some sunflower seeds tomorrow and give it a go. Just a comment though: in Australia, anything containing oats is not considered gluten free (in America it would be though), and not safe for those requiring a GF diet.
I made these this evening for a little evening treat. Oh my gosh they are sooo good! I discovered I was out of coconut oil so I used salted butter. Thank you for sharing this recipe!
